Dr. Kit Allen Women's Health Research Grant
Application Due Date: May 1, 2010 Award Date: August 2010 Award Amount: $10,000 In order to improve the status of women's health, increased research is needed to examine the issues, illnesses and diseases most prevalent to women. The Wisconsin Women's Health Foundation (WWHF) wants to improve the health of women by supporting new or existing research in women's health. The Dr. Kit Allen Women's Health Research Grant, awarded at the annual Women's Health Research Luncheon, is named in memory of Dr. Kit Allen who was the Director of Research for the UW Center for Women's Health and Women's Health Research. These $10,000 grants are awarded every other year for projects relating to one of WWHF's health focus areas: cancer cardiovascular disease, domestic abuse, mental illness, osteoporosis, and alcohol and tobacco use. Eligible Candidates Eligible candidates include any graduate student, faculty member, or academic staff researcher in good standing at any of the University of Wisconsin campuses, the Medical College of Wisconsin, or any other educational or community institution focusing on women's health matters. At academic institutions, candidates may be in any nationally-accredited school or department including, but not limited to, the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Social Work, Letters and Sciences, Business, or Human Ecology. In keeping with WWHF's mission, priority will be given to candidates whose work is directly relevant to Wisconsin women and to those with a demonstrated ability to conduct quality peer-reviewed research.
