The Gathering

Since 2002, the Gathering has provided women an opportunity to meet old and new friends, view exhibits, and access information and resources they need to be healthy. The event is designed to engage and energize attendees, teach new information that can be applied in real life, and help women set personal health goals. Participants learn to become better advocates for their, and their families’, health in a way that allows them to create balance, wholeness, and wellness in body, mind, and spirit.

This is a free event but registration is required.

Clinical Trials & Women in Clinical Research Program

Historically, women were excluded from medical research. What we know today about women’s health has only recently been uncovered because of a recognized need to provide separate clinical trials for both genders. This program highlights the needs of increasing participation by women in clinical trials and overviews current women’s health research topics and studies.

Juggling Stress

This program illuminates how strength lies in our ability to juggle our many responsibilities, but our health lies in our ability to juggle well. Eliz shares her experiences as a heart attack-survivor and a caregiver for her father and her father-in-law during their battles with cancer and strategies for daily stress management and for dealing with unexpected challenges.

1:30pm-2:30pm Speaker: Dr. David Gundersen

Exploring the Mouth-Body Connection

The health of your mouth is intimately connected to the health of the rest of your body, and just like your body, changes throughout your life span. Learn about the connections between oral health and other medical conditions and the changes and unique considerations of oral health during various phases of a woman’s life.

2:30pm Raffle Prizes and Closing Remarks

The Gathering gives women, especially those in rural and underserved areas, the opportunity to network and attend workshops that provide additional health education and stress management skills,” says Sue Ann Thompson, founder and president of the Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation. “We are privileged to have partnered for  years now with Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital – a leading teaching and rural referral center with a long-standing commitment to the health and well-being of all women.”
